What you will need

Spade
Water (1-2L per tree)
Tree guard (if needed)
Planting Instructions
1. Choose the right spot
For most native species, select an area that receives full daylight.
Avoid waterlogged soil unless the species is suited to wet ground.
Allow at least 1 metre spacing between trees.
2. Prepare the ground
Clear grass in about a 50 cm circle around the planting spot.
Dig a hole twice the width of the root.
Loosen soil at the base.
3. Plant the tree
Position the tree so the root collar is level with the soil surface (not buried).
Backfill with soil and firm gently (do not heavily compact).
Water with 1-2 litres immediately after planting.
4. Protect and Maintain
Install a tree guard if there is risk from grazing animals.
Check the tree after strong winds.
Water during prolonged dry periods.
